Canvas System Requirements
It is always recommended to use the most up-to-date versions and better connections. Canvas will still run with the minimum specifications, but you may experience slower loading times.
Screen Size
Canvas is best viewed at a minimum resolution of 800x600. If you want to view Canvas on a device with a smaller screen, we recommend using the Canvas mobile app.

Mobile Access Disclaimer
Though Canvas provides a mobile app which works well for the majority of course content, this course site is still best viewed via a desktop or laptop running a complete operating system, as opposed to a tablet or smartphone. Some interactive course elements may not be viewable via mobile devices, and it is certainly not recommended that you attempt to complete assignments or take graded quizzes or tests via mobile devices
Registration Instructions
What to expect after you register:
You will receive a series of emails as follows:
Registration emails you will receive.
The first three emails you will receive will be from cpeinfo@vt.edu. This email address is for general registration inquires. For questions about your specific registration please email one of the contacts listed below.
The emails subject lines will be:
Virginia Tech Continuing and Professional Education User Name - confirms your new user name for the registration system.
Virginia Tech Continuing and Professional Education Enrollment Notification - confirms your enrollment in the course.
Virginia Tech Continuing and Professional Education Confirmation - full confirmation letter that has details about next steps.
You do not need to do anything with these emails. They are for your records, and indicate that you have successfully created your registration profile and registered for the course.
What to do if you do not receive these emails.
If you do not receive the emails from cpeinfo@vt.edu, please contact one of the following people:

Canvas online learning tool - login and confirmation emails.
You will receive two emails from the online learning system.
The first email will be from Virginia Tech Guest Management Service at iam@vt.edu with the subject line Virginia Tech Guest Account Invitation (You will not receive this email until the Wednesday following your registration to the course).
This email will explain the process for you to gain access to the course. It is important that you watch for this email as it has a temporary link for you to access to the online learning tool, Canvas.
Upon following the link, you will be asked to update your information and register your new profile. Once you have done so, the system may take up to 6 hours to fully register your account.
What to do if you do not receive this email.
If you do not receive the email from iam@vt.edu by 2:00 PM on the Wednesday following your confirmation from cpeinfo@vt.edu. You should contact 4Help.
Detailed documentation and 24/7 support is available online from 4Help. To reach 4Help, go to 4help.vt.edu, or call (540) 231-4357.The second email will be from Virginia Tech Canvas, notifications@instructure.com with the subject line Course Enrollment. This email indicates you can now log into Canvas and begin the course.
You may wish to bookmark the log in page for Canvas, as you will be returning to it each time you want to continue working on your course.
