This course aims at familiarizing participants with more advanced asset management practices. It presents knowledge, tools, and techniques to develop or improve Asset Management for water sector operations. Learning exercises are designed to provide a deeper understanding of Asset Management for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater applications.

The strategic aspects of asset management and identify the role an asset manager needs to play in developing the asset management plan
To identify the existing frameworks available for establishing a tactical asset management program and learn the drivers behind such a plan

How to put Management Strategies and Decision Support Systems in place for accurate and timely implementation of Asset Management Plans

To evaluate end of asset life reinvestment decisions
To identify non-tolerable and significant Business Risk Exposure and associated techniques to O&M (OpEx) and Capital (CapEx) investment strategies

This course is self-paced and available on-demand through Virginia Tech's learning management system for 180 days after the date of enrollment. This enables you to complete the course at your convenience. The course will take approximately 12-15 hours to complete depending on your familiarity with the topic and experience with online learning. A final test must be successfully passed with a minimum score of 80% to be awarded CEUs/PDHs. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a certificate for 2.4 CEUs (24 PDHs) for completing this individual course.
